The queen of gqom, Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, has made a smashing return after a five-year hiatus.

Wodumo vanished from the music industry after she lost her award-winning music producer husband, Mampinsha, to a stroke a day before Christmas in 2022.

Mamphinsha's sudden death sent shockwaves through the country.

Wodumo married her long-time bae in April 2021, and in June, the newlyweds welcomed their son, who was nicknamed Spontshi.

After a whirlwind of emotions, Wodumo is back to reclaim her throne with her latest offering, "Mabheshingo". #

This marks Wodumo's first studio project since her 2020 release, "Indando Kazi".

She took to Instagram to announce the project and said that she has "added a few songs that Mampintsha left me with".

"I'm excited to announce my album release on the 3rd(This Friday)πŸ₯°I added a few songs @mampintsha_shimora left me with, can't wait for everyone to hear itπŸ₯°πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸΌYep! Posting on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: "Went through all the phases of life. A queen knows when to stop and take it all in.

"Everyone has been wanting to sit on the throne, but the gqom game was locked and only the true queen has the key and now she has returned to unlock the throne, the gate and chains (be)cause gqom queen has returned stronger than ever."
