Tebogo Thekisho, better known by his stage name ProVerb, has marked another milestone in his career with the release of his second book, “To Health With It!”.
The book provides a personal and practical guide to health, wealth and happiness. It encourages readers to rethink their approach to well-being, drawing on the author’s own journey of transformation.
Sharing his excitement on social media, ProVerb wrote, “After 4 long years, the day has finally arrived. Today I hold in my hands the very first copy of my second book, ‘To Health With It!’”
“What began as an idea presented to my publisher in 2021 became a journey of writing and rewriting, of endless research, countless edits, and many back-and-forth exchanges with my publisher, all while balancing work and completing my studies."
"To finally see it materialise into a book I can touch has left me deeply emotional,” he said.
ProVerb added, “My heartfelt gratitude goes to @penguinbookssouthafrica for their patience and belief in this project, and to my family for their unwavering support through this process.
"‘To Health With It!’ will begin surfacing in bookstores in the coming weeks, but for those who’d like to secure their copy now, it is already available for pre-order. This is more than just a book; it’s a journey, and I cannot wait to embark on it with you.”
ProVerb’s first book, “The Book of ProVerb”, was released in 2020 and detailed his life, career and personal struggles, including a difficult divorce and a suicide attempt.
Reflecting on his early career, ProVerb said, “As a teenager I sought music wherever I could find it, and recorded my first demo at age 15, using my mom’s hi-fi.”
He gained national attention in 2005 with the release of his debut hip hop album, “The Book of ProVerb”, which launched his career not only in music but also across media.
Over the years, he has become a regular on television, hosting “Idols South Africa”, and has worked on platforms such as Channel O, Jam Alley and YFM.

Regarding his divorce, which ended a ten-year marriage in 2015 amid allegations of his wife’s infidelity, ProVerb said in a 2016 interview with Masechaba Ndlovu on “Power FM”, “In the middle of the darkness, it's pretty hard and it's pretty lonesome and it's cold. But with the faith that the other side is brighter, is better, I think that's ultimately what fuels you to keep going.”
He also reflected on the need to focus on his children and family: “Also, I had to stop being selfish because at the time I was all about me, the victim, me, me, me … but when I stepped off of that and realised that I have my children, my family, my career, it almost stopped being about me.”
Earlier this year, ProVerb celebrated 20 years since the release of his debut album.
He took to Instagram to mark the milestone, writing, “Microphone, Sweet Home. Little did I know, this album wouldn't just be my debut into music; it would be the first chapter of a lifelong journey in media, entertainment and storytelling.”
He reflected on how the album opened doors beyond music, allowing him to establish a multifaceted career in radio, television and media.
