Social media influencer Cindy Makhathini found herself in a rather unfortunate situation over the weekend when she crashed her car into a Sasol petrol station.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the mishap, which Makhathini detailed on her Instagram Stories.
In a candid post, Makhathini expressed her shock at the accident, stating: “I just crashed my car, not just crashed but crashed into a Sasol garage.”
Makhathini's vehicle, an Omoda, reportedly sustained only minor scratches; she noted that the garage itself incurred significant damage.
The influencer was quick to address any concerns regarding her state at the time of the accident.
“I am so lucky the owner was so kind and gentle with the situation,” she reflected, extending her gratitude to the garage's owner for their understanding in the aftermath.
Makhathini also reassured her followers, saying, “FYI, I was not drunk. We were driving with a baby in the car, and it was a long distance.”
In what seemed to be an earnest lament, she continued, “The damage I caused at that garage is too much, but I cooperated with the police and the owner.”
Makhathini underwent a breathalyser test during the police investigation, which confirmed that there was no alcohol in her system.“It was just an honest mistake,” she asserted, emphasising her commitment to the safety of her passengers and the seriousness of the situation.
A video shared on TikTok by a user Da Mreh showed a different view of the accident, with the vehicle inside the Sasol garage shop.
In the clip, a bystander recounts how the car crashed into the shop. "It came in slowly, like how a car would move if it’s in first gear without the accelerator engaged,” a man is heard saying.
