Planting a tree is a simple yet powerful way to make a difference. By doing so, you're not only beautifying your surroundings but also contributing to a healthier planet.

Trees absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, and offer shelter for wildlife. Whether in your backyard, a local park, or through a community initiative, every tree planted brings us closer to a more sustainable future. So, get involved, plant a tree, and watch the positive impact grow – for you, your community, and the environment.

Kumba Iron Ore is taking bold steps to give back to nature. In support of the Ten Million Trees initiative led by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, the company has pledged to plant 2,800 trees in 2025. This effort is part of a larger mission to restore ecosystems, promote biodiversity, and build thriving communities.

Since 2021, Kumba has already planted over 15,000 trees as part of its land management and rehabilitation programme. The company's CEO, Mpumi Zikalala, highlights the importance of this initiative: “The initiative is key to actioning our ambitions outlined in our Sustainability Strategy, reinforcing our commitment to building thriving communities by improving livelihoods, operating in healthy environments and restoring natural ecosystems through greening initiatives and proactive environmental care.”

The tree-planting effort is about about cultivating resilience and preserving biodiversity not merely just about greening the surroundings; it's about cultivating resilience and preserving biodiversity.

Kumba aims to have a Net Positive Impact on biodiversity by closure, showcasing its role as a trusted corporate leader advocating for responsible mining and a low-carbon future.

Through a collaborative effort with local stakeholders, the campaign will target areas in need of ecological restoration and underserved parts of host communities.

As Kumba continues to take steps towards a more sustainable future, its efforts serve as a shining example of corporate responsibility in action.
