Award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest has called out Uber on social media after claiming that an Uber courier driver stole a parcel that was supposed to be delivered to a friend.
In an Instagram post, Nyovest expressed his disappointment, saying: "@uber @ubereats_za Uber has become such complete rubbish !!!! Yesterday I tried to send a gift to one of my friends through uber courier, and the driver decided to steal the gift and report that he returned it to me!!!
"The name of the driver is Dymon, and it’s been over 24 hours since I tried sending them emails!! Such an expensive gift, ruined my day and ruined the gesture for my friend cause he was so excited!!! I never use Uber courier again!!!! This happens after they have stolen food sooo many times!!! Such rubbish!!!!"
Nyovest's message quickly drew attention, as he highlighted a problem that many customers face with delivery services.
"This happened to me today!" wrote @heyyntokiie.
Actress Rorisang Mohapi shared her experience: "Sana, that almost happened to me. This lady reported my wigs to be 'delivered'. I posted her on TikTok, and she brought them back. The only thing Uber said was 'report her to the police'. Askies✨."
In response to the allegation, a spokesperson for Uber South Africa stated, "We understand how upsetting it can be when a delivery doesn’t go as expected and special moments are ruined. We take all reports of missing or undelivered items extremely seriously.”
They reassured that they are taking Nyovest’s complaint seriously.
"We are currently investigating this matter as a priority and are in direct contact with all those involved.
"Our dedicated 24/7 support team reviews every report thoroughly, using tools such as GPS tracking, delivery handover verification, and account history to establish the facts and resolve concerns fairly.
"We are committed to ensuring that every delivery on Uber is reliable, secure and handled with the highest standards of integrity."
