Media personality Thulasizwe “Lasizwe” Dambuza has announced the return of his YouTube show “Awkward Dates” on DStv.
Dambuza shared the news on Tuesday, August 26, on his Instagram account and captioned his post: “GUESS WHO’S BACK ON DSTV?? (Last slide is the mood!) An AWKWARD DATES SPECIAL EDITION on Mzansi Magic!”
To express his excitement about the new business venture, he referenced his sister's iconic "Khanyi Mbau dance" challenge, which has been trending for the past few weeks.
“Awkward Dates” was originally among eight YouTube shows and podcasts that were announced to air on DStv to bring new and fresh content that resonated with the youth.
However, Dambuza’s show came to a halt after he was involved in an alleged dispute about unpaid fees.
Early this year, multiple online reports stated that the award-winning media personality had cut ties with Multichoice over an alleged dispute involving unpaid fees and an alleged breach of agreement with social media influencer Dominic Zaca.
According to “City Press”, a source shared that Dambuza decided to cut ties with the broadcaster when the drama unfolded.
“When the drama started, Lasizwe panicked and voluntarily decided to end his contract with Multichoice. He has been open about his mental health issues, so when the drama happened, he chose his peace,” the source shared.
Meanwhile, Zaca was vocal about the financial dispute and aired the issues on social media and kept demanding answers from both Dambuza and Multichoice.
Zaca claimed that Lasizwe owed them money before shooting an episode for “Awkward Dates” and also accused Lasizwe of breaching the verbal and written contract.
The human rights activist said: “Lasizwe Dambuza, would you and your team like to pay me for breaching a contract that we had or are you guys gonna keep ignoring me or lying at every turn and say that you are gonna give me a response?”
Dambuza then addressed the issue on one of his Youtube shows “Drink or Tell The Truth” in July and indirectly said that he does not owe anyone anything.
Flooding the comment section, his fans congratulated him as he makes his comeback on television.
“We can’t wait! Who would miss ‘Awkward Dates??? Our very own Lasizwe! Love you loads,” @angeliccutie_sly commented.
“I’m going to tune in for sure!” @dipalesaogwang added.
