SAMA 31 nominee announcement set for August 28

The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) is gearing up for the 31st edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMA), with a virtual nominee announcement scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2025. The live stream will take place from 6pm to 7pm on SAMA's official YouTube channel and social media platforms.

According to Nhlanhla Sibisi, CEO of RiSA, "The SAMAs are not just about trophies – they’re about legacy, impact, and the stories we tell as a nation through music." This year's edition promises to be an exciting celebration of South African music, with the main awards ceremony set to take place in November 2025.

Significance of Women's Month

The virtual nominee announcement coincides with Women's Month, carrying a deeper resonance than just a date on the calendar. Sibisi emphasised that unveiling nominees during this time is a symbolic act that aligns with recognising women's leadership, resilience, and achievements across various sectors. "It sends a powerful message to young girls and aspiring leaders that excellence is recognised, that their voices matter, and that their work can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in their fields," added Sibisi.
