Legendary rock star Ozzy Osbourne, famously known as the “Prince of Darkness” and the voice behind Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 76.

The music icon passed away peacefully surrounded by family, just weeks after his emotional final performance in Birmingham.

His family confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” they said, signing the statement with their names.

Ozzy was not only known for his wild rockstar antics but also his deep musical influence. As the frontman of Black Sabbath and a solo artist, he delivered hits like Crazy Train, Changes, and Mr. Crowley, becoming one of the most recognisable and undoubtedly iconic figures in rock history.

It is believed that Osbourne had been battling Parkinson’s disease and other serious health complications in recent years, including multiple back and neck surgeries.

Despite his declining health, he trained rigorously to prepare for his farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, on July 5. He performed seated on a black throne, unable to stand but determined to give fans a final goodbye.

“Ozzy's number one thing in life is his fans,” his wife Sharon Osbourne said. “He's working hard to make this show the perfect way to end things.”

She had revealed ahead of the concert that Ozzy was undergoing daily therapy to regain strength and mobility.

Fans around the world are mourning the death of a man whose music helped define the heavy metal genre. Tributes poured in online, with one fan posting: “RIP Ozzy Osbourne #Ozzy,” and another writing, “Rip Ozzy, condolences to the Osbornes.”

He is survived by his wife Sharon and their children, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and stepson Louis.
