The latest episode of "The Taste Master SA" left viewers on the edge of their seats as fan favourites Xolile Makutoana and Meggan Volkwyn were eliminated in a heart-wrenching double elimination.

Despite their talent and dedication, both contestants bid farewell to the competition, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for a long time.

As they reflected on their time in the kitchen, Xolile and Meggan opened up about their journey, challenges and future plans.

Xolile, who beautifully blends tradition and innovation in his baking, shared that his biggest challenge was understanding the brief and vision of the fine-dining dessert task.

"I wanted to create a dessert that expressed happiness, so I ended up making it quite bold and I guess I went a little too loud," he said.

Meggan, on the other hand, spoke about the influence of her grandmother and early Sunday bakes on her culinary journey.

"A tidy kitchen is a functional kitchen and baking is muscle memory – you've got to keep exercising it, make the same recipes multiple times, multiple ways, and you will finesse it," she shared, recalling her grandmother's wise words.

Both contestants have big dreams for their future. Xolile plans to focus on his bakery, "Explorer Cake SA" and explore opportunities to study culinary arts. Meggan, who dreams of starting a café and baking school for kids, said that "The Taste Master SA" experience has helped her conceptualise her ideas and plans.

As they move forward, Xolile and Meggan leave behind a legacy that will inspire many. Their journey on "The Taste Master SA" may have concluded but their passion for culinary arts will continue to drive them to new heights.
