R&B icon Usher and the “pretty girl from Joburg”, Tyla, have been announced as the latest additions to join the Coke Studio 2024 lineup.

The two artists have been making headlines since the year began, recognised for their achievements and talent. For Coke Studio, it was a no-brainer to include them in the already star-studded lineup.

Tyla and Usher have been the subject of much discussion this week after the “Water” hitmaker turned down Usher as he tried to dance with her. This has sparked much debate among fans, who have been divided on the issue. She was branded as an “uppity African” by Joe Budden, a popular podcaster.

According to Billboard, the partnership will see Usher play a show in October in Atlanta, the Coca-Cola Company’s home base, as part of his current Past Present Future tour, while Tyla will perform in her hometown, Johannesburg.

Both shows will also feature the live debut of their songs produced for Coke Studio.

“Being part of this year’s Coke Studio lineup is both an honour and an opportunity to engage with my fans through the power of music.

“Partnering with Coca-Cola to bring these experiences to life is exciting, and I can’t wait for fans to join us in the magic we’re crafting together,” says Usher in a statement.

“I’m excited to perform in my hometown of Johannesburg as part of the Coke Studio platform. It’s a privilege to bring these vibrant moments to life and share the joy and energy with music lovers across the world,” adds Tyla.

Coke Studio is a game-changing global music platform that unites the most exciting up and coming artists, as well as breakthrough musicians from all over the world to create music collisions that transcend geographical borders, backgrounds, and genres to reach audiences worldwide.

Usher and Tyla will be joining Karol G, NewJeans, and Peggy Gou as they deliver exclusive music and exciting performances.
