Kanye West sparked outrage on social media after announcing he is forming a new choir and seeking a very specific type of individual to join.
The 47-year-old rapper, who recently embroiled his daughter North West, 11, in the Sean “Diddy” Combs controversy, appeared to reinforce his anti-Semitic stance with a call for volunteers on X on Saturday night.
“The Hooligans Open casting call for volunteers,” the post began. “Ye is putting together a hooligan choir to give the sound of the “Vultures” number one song, “Carnival.”
Applicants must meet strict criteria. Only men are eligible, and they must be physically fit. “NO FAT PEOPLE,” the post stated.
Additionally, those interested must have “the skin complexion of Sean Combs and darker.”
West, known for his support of Combs—who is currently in custody facing federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking—has even included what appears to be a recorded conversation with the imprisoned rapper in his latest single, “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine”.
Further requirements for hopefuls include having “shaved heads OR must be willing to shave head if approved.”
However, the most controversial condition is that applicants “MUST BE COMFORTABLE WEARING SWASTIKAS.”
This follows West’s recent launch of a T-shirt line featuring the Nazi symbol in February.
The casting call received mixed reactions, with many expressing anger over the strict skin tone and weight specifications.
“Not dark or skinny enough, damn,” one person responded.
Others were not as diplomatic with one follower commenting;
“This is straight-up clown behaviour. If you’re begging for attention this hard, you’ve already lost. Swastikas? Fat-shaming? Obsessing over skin colour? You sound like a joke trying way too hard to be edgy. Nobody with self-respect would waste their time on this garbage,' said one commenter.
