DJ Fresh has joined community radio station 93.8FM.

DJ Fresh (Thato Sikwane) and Unathi Nkayi have joined forces with new community radio station 93.8FM, marking an exciting return for fans of South African radio.
While much of the finer details about the station remain under wraps, DJ Fresh and Nkayi have been confirmed as the first two presenters, set to host a show every Friday.
Their collaboration promises to infuse fresh energy into the local radio scene, which has got listeners excited.
A recent video shared on Instagram by the station gave a glimpse into the soft launch, held at Daruma By Oskido in Waterfall.
In the footage, radio veteran Greg Maloka, who also serves as managing director of Kaya FM, expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture: "I am really excited, today we launched with our first batch of talent, DJ Fresh and Unathi, we just did a four hour special and we've invited all our friends, all our stakeholders and everybody else around the community to come with us and start building this baby."
DJ Fresh, a well-known figure in the industry, articulated the groundbreaking nature of this initiative: "We are manufacturing a whole new radio station, brand new radio shows. There will be a lot of familiar voices and familiar faces and a familiar vibe and energy, but a totally brand new radio."
DJ Fresh has been off air for almost four years, however, his career has remained one of the most iconic in South African radio.
His journey began in 1997 when he joined YFM, where he became a voice for the youth, revolutionising urban radio.
His show “The Fresh Drive” was a hit, and it wasn’t long before he became one of the most recognisable radio personalities in the country.
DJ Fresh also revealed on his Instagram Stories why he chose to join 93.8FM instead of other stations.
"So I've decided to go with 93.8. The reason we are going with 93.8 is because it made business sense ... I will be able to make more each month than I would at any other radio station, including equity options also."
Meanwhile Nkayi, who was last on the airwaves in 2023, when she co-hosted the "All Star Drive" alongside Justin Toerien on Star 91.9FM, added that this new station will offer "excellence, greatness, evolution, quality and luxury".
With these two iconic personalities leading the charge, listeners eagerly await the fresh sound and innovative programming that this new community station promises to bring to the South African airwaves.
