Kimberley hosted its first LDSA-qualifying line dance competition, attracting 62 dancers nationwide. Emris Dance School impressed with multiple medals, as participants competed for places ahead of the SA Masters Competition in Durban in 2026.

KIMBERLEY celebrated a milestone on Saturday, 6 December, when Line Dance South Africa (LDSA) hosted the first qualifying line dance competition in the city.
The 2025 to 2026 dance season event was held at NG Kimberley Vooruitsig and marked a significant moment for the local dance community, drawing 62 dancers from across South Africa. Participants travelled from as far as Nigel, Vereeniging, Strand, Durban, and Bloemfontein to compete in the qualifying round.
The line dance season runs annually from September to August, with five official qualifiers taking place nationwide. These events lead dancers to the highly anticipated SA Masters Competition, which is set to take place in Durban in July 2026.
Dancers from all over came to Kimberley to showcase their skills in line dance.

Local talent shone brightly on the day. Emris Dance School from Kimberley entered 15 dancers and returned home with an impressive medal tally. Their dancers secured 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals, confirming their growing presence in the national line dance arena.
Organisers and attendees described the event as a milestone moment for Kimberley, highlighting the growth of competitive line dancing in the Northern Cape and the strong support shown by the community.
