Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to ramp up the pressure on the Betway Premiership’s top three when midweek action kicks off on Tuesday.

After Mamelodi Sundowns, Sekhukhune United and Orlando Pirates all dropped points last weekend, Amakhosi could climb to second place if they beat newly-promoted Orbit College at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs chasing momentum

The Glamour Boys snapped a four-match winless run by edging Durban City 1-0 on Friday, temporarily moving above Pirates before the Soweto rivals’ 1-1 draw with Sundowns the following day.

Orbit College, meanwhile, head into their first-ever league meeting with Chiefs buoyed by consecutive wins, having beaten Magesi 3-1 last weekend to pull clear of the relegation zone.

Sundowns, Pirates and Sekhukhune in focus

Sundowns will target a return to winning ways when they welcome TS Galaxy to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday. The league leaders have taken just two wins from their last five matches, though they remain two points clear of Sekhukhune after Babina Noko’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Siwelele.

Pirates will travel to the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday to face Golden Arrows, hoping to stay within reach of the front-runners. The Sea Robbers’ six-match winning streak ended with the Sundowns draw, but they remain third on goal difference.

Arrows will be full of confidence after their biggest win of the season — a 4-0 victory over Gallants on Sunday — lifted them back into the top eight.

Tight battles lower down

Sekhukhune United will be desperate to bounce back when they host Richards Bay on Tuesday. Eric Tinkler’s side missed their chance to top the table last week, while the visitors are eager to end a three-match winless run that has left them three points above the relegation playoff zone.

At the other end of the table, bottom-placed Chippa United face Magesi at Buffalo City Stadium in a crucial clash for survival. Coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi is still seeking his first win since taking charge on 22 October, following a 3-0 loss to AmaZulu.

Elsewhere, AmaZulu host Polokwane City at Princess Magogo Stadium, Durban City meet Marumo Gallants at Chatsworth, and Stellenbosch take on Siwelele at Athlone.
