South African Rugby confirmed on Monday that its partnership with global online betting and gaming brand Betway has been renewed for another four years, extending support across all major national rugby teams.
The renewed agreement will now include the Springbok men’s and women’s teams, as well as the Blitzboks and Springbok Women’s Sevens squads. Betway’s branding will continue to feature prominently on the back of the shorts worn by all four teams as they embark on what promises to be an action-packed season.
The next highlight for the Springboks will be their clash with the Barbarians at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, 28 June.
Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby, welcomed the extension and applauded the continued commitment from Betway, saying, “As we’ve seen over the last four years, this partnership with Betway enabled us to work together in bringing our passionate fans even closer to the game.
“We are excited to extend our partnership with Betway, as this will yet again stretch beyond the four white lines of a rugby field. Betway has brought some exciting initiatives to the rugby landscape, such as the Betway Next Phase, an exciting three-year initiative that helped develop, upskill and empower coaches in women’s rugby.
“Without sponsors, sport would struggle, and we’re fortunate that we have a partner such as Betway that is passionate about growing rugby.”
The initial partnership, established in 2021, has played an important role in connecting fans with the sport while helping to foster grassroots development, especially in the women’s game.
Mark Rowles, Head of Marketing for Betway Africa, expressed his pride in backing the national teams, saying, “The Springboks are a team that have brought so much joy to South Africa, and we as Betway are delighted to be behind the Boks for another four years. Our journey has seen so much success for the team, and that feel-good feeling has certainly rubbed off on the Rainbow Nation.
“We are looking forward to playing a role in the success of both the women’s and sevens teams over the next four-year period and will be investing in the growth and accessibility of the women’s game.”
Rowles added that Betway’s official Springbok campaign will be launched in the coming weeks, with billboards to appear across the country to rally fan support. He also extended well wishes to the Springbok Women’s squad ahead of their participation in the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England, set to begin in August.
The renewed sponsorship further solidifies Betway’s status as a key player in South African sport and underscores a shared commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
