THE South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has announced that it has been made aware of a series of viral videos online that supposedly show inaccurate and misleading information about the army.

These videos were labelled as propaganda by the SANDF.

"These videos are clearly aimed at portraying the SANDF as a disorganised and ill-disciplined force. The videos are further meant to demoralise our dedicated military professionals," it said.

"It is clear that those who are sending these videos are on a propaganda drive and clearly targeting the South African population and members of the SANDF to doubt their national Defence Force."

One such video that has gained traction online that may be one the force is disparaging is one where a woman reveals shockingly low salaries that are allegedly earned by members.

"Maybe it's just about serving your country. It's not really about making a lot of money," said a woman going by Lifereset with Boni on TikTok.

The SANDF went on to say that it is committed to carrying out its duty with professionalism and honesty. The army also claimed to maintain high operational capability and equipment standards.

It denounced those responsible for the undermining of the SANDF's name.

"We call on the South Africa public, in particular the members of the SANDF not to fall into the trap of such despicable propaganda by believing what is circulating on the social media platforms.

"We will not allow our soldiers' spirit and morale to be affected by such malicious act by those behind the propaganda. The SANDF stands united and will continue to serve our country with honour and unwavering commitment."
