ESKOM has confirmed that Stage 2 load shedding will persist during evening peak hours today and on Thursday, May 15, from 4 pm to 10 pm.

In a statement, the utility acknowledged the inconveniences that loadshedding causes to households and businesses alike and reiterated its commitment to reliability in electricity supply.

"We recognise the inconvenience this causes and remain committed to ensuring a reliable electricity supply," a spokesperson said.

Despite a slight improvement in unplanned outages since the previous day, the power system continues to remain under substantial pressure.

Eskom's teams are engaged in ongoing efforts to bolster grid stability, supported by necessary structural enhancements across the generation fleet. Optimistically, the utility added that load shedding incidents have notably decreased in comparison to previous years.

As the demand for power surges during the evening peak, Eskom continues to monitor the power system closely and commits to providing updates should any changes occur in the operational landscape.

The utility encourages consumers to conserve electricity during peak times to further alleviate pressure on the grid.
