THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform will host a flagship provincial event in Roodepan, Kimberley, on Friday, June 20, to mark Youth Month and Environment Month.

The commemorative event, led by MEC Mase Manopole, will bring together service-driven initiatives focused on environmental restoration, youth development, and community upliftment.

The day’s programme is set to kick off at 8.30am with a Cleaning and Greening Campaign at Harvest Time Church. The initiative will focus on cleaning school grounds and public spaces while planting trees to promote sustainability and community pride.

At 10.30am, free Veterinary Outreach Services will be provided to residents at the same venue. The mobile service will offer basic animal health care and promote responsible pet ownership in under-resourced areas.

The celebrations will culminate with a Youth Market Day at 12:30pm at the Harvest Time Park, where young entrepreneurs from across the province will showcase and sell eco-friendly and agricultural products. The market aims to empower youth through agri-business and innovation while encouraging food security and sustainability.

The multi-faceted event aims to highlight the department’s commitment to building resilient communities, empowering the youth, and promoting a cleaner, greener Northern Cape.
