The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is cracking down on uniformed members who think they're above the law – or at least, above good judgement. It has come to light that some soldiers have been sharing racy photos and videos on social media while rocking their military gear, leaving the SANDF embarrassed.
The SANDF's top brass, led by General Rudzani Maphwanya, has issued a stern warning to its troops: keep it clean, or face the consequences.
The SANDF has made it clear that publishing explicit content in uniform is a no-go. Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour and preserve the dignity of the uniform.
Anything less, and they'll be facing disciplinary action.
The SANDF is reminding its members that wearing a uniform doesn't give them a free pass to misbehave online. It's quite the opposite. The uniform demands respect, and so do the rules.
So, SANDF members, take heed: keep your social media game strong, and your dignity intact. The military is watching – and waiting to pounce on any more social media slip-ups.
