A 25-year-old suspect wanted for attempted rape in Barkly West since 2022 has been apprehended in Bloemfontein after evading arrest for nearly three years.

The Northern Cape Tracking Team has successfully apprehended a 25-year-old male suspect in Bloemfontein, wanted in connection with an attempted rape case reported in Barkly West in 2022.
The suspect had been evading arrest for almost three years before being tracked down by the Provincial Tracking Team on Monday, July 28 2025.
Acting on intelligence, the team traced the suspect to Grassland, Bloemfontein, and apprehended him. He is expected to appear in the Barkly West Magistrate's Court soon.
The Northern Cape Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and security, utilising all resources to track down perpetrators evading arrest.
