A 22-year-old man, Brian Louw, has been sentenced to 10 years of direct imprisonment for the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy in Hopetown.
The incident occurred on October 10, 2022, when the victim was confronted by Louw and fled into a local tuckshop seeking help. Louw pursued him and stabbed him in the head, causing permanent damage to the victim's mobility.
The Hopetown Regional Court handed down the sentence, ensuring that Louw faces the consequences of his actions. The South African Police Service Management in the Northern Cape commended Detective Sergeant Ricardo Kock of the Hopetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for his dedication and professionalism in investigating the case.
The sentence serves as a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protect the rights and safety of all citizens, particularly vulnerable children.
