THE PHILIPSTOWN police wasted no time in tracking down a housebreaking suspect, arresting a 37-year-old man and recovering a haul of stolen items following a burglary in the area.

The break-in occurred overnight between February 24 and 25, when a local residence was targeted, and various household items were taken. Police officers sprang into action, following up on leads. Constables Sinovuyo Phelekwa and Riaan Steenkamp swiftly located the suspect and retrieved several stolen items, including a microwave, iron, kettle, clothing, and a gas cylinder bottle.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon on charges of housebreaking and theft. Anyone with relevant information that can assist in the case is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Zwelandile Nolusu at 073 363 4133, report via the MySAPS app, or call the SAPS Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111.

The Northern Cape SAPS management commended the Philipstown police and the community for their swift action in apprehending the suspect and recovering the stolen items.

Lieutenant-Colonel Kock issued a reminder that purchasing stolen goods is a criminal offence. Those found guilty of housebreaking, theft, or possessing stolen property face serious consequences, including fines, incarceration, and a criminal record. He urged residents to remain vigilant - "If you see something, say something!"
