THE SOUTH African Police Service (SAPS), in collaboration with the Northern Cape Gambling and Liquor Board, took services directly to the Kimberley community on Friday.
Pop-up stalls and a mobile Community Service Centre (CSC) were set up at the four-way intersection in Homelite/Galeshewe, providing residents with access to crucial services.
SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock explained that the CSC assisted community members with crime reporting, document certification, and affidavit processing. Meanwhile, a motorcade engaged with residents, promoting service delivery and distributing safety awareness pamphlets.
As part of the initiative, officers educated the public on crime prevention and the risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption and gambling.
The event was led by the SAPS provincial head for Pro-Active Policing, Brigadier Irene Kopeledi, with support from the provincial head for Corporate Communication, Brigadier Mashay Gamieldien. Various SAPS units, including the Provincial Inspectorate and the Firearms, Liquor, and Second-Hand Goods (FLASH) unit, also participated.
In addition to delivering services, the team promoted the upcoming Provincial "Sports is Our Future" tournament, set to take place on March 6 in Kimberley.
