KIMBERLEY – Roodepan detectives swooped down on wanted criminals this week, successfully arresting 17 fugitives in a high-impact tracing operation.
Led by Captain Allistair Slambert, the specialised team from the Roodepan police station launched their crackdown on February 12, targeting individuals who had been dodging the law.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam confirmed that the suspects were wanted for a string of serious crimes, including murder, armed robbery, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), theft, and violating protection orders.
The suspects had been evading court appearances and ignoring legal orders until detectives tracked them down at their respective residences in and around Roodepan.
The arrested individuals are expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
Sergeant Sam said the police are urging residents to assist in keeping their communities safe by reporting criminal activity via the MySAPS App or calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111. All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
