Johannesburg

Gerakaris Family Wines

Joburgers, rejoice – a wine farm trip is much closer than you think. Located in the heart of Craighall Park, Gerakaris Family Wines is a boutique, family-run winery set in a verdant inner-city oasis. Spend a slow afternoon sipping on the Chenin and Syrah they produce on-site, accompanied by one of their famed cheeseboards.

The Library Food Club

Nothing sets the tone for a night out like a secret doorway disguised as a bookcase. Since they opened in 2024, they have been Mexican-focused but expect a culinary twist, with a Peruvian menu in April. Until then, enjoy the Mexican favourites, namely the chips and guac, and tamales.

The new Peruvian menu will feature a variety of ceviches (both fish and vegetarian), anticuchos (classic street food meat skewers), and a fresh new wine list. Its speakeasy atmosphere with its rich wooden panelling, heavy wooden chairs and thick kilim carpets, makes it the perfect spot for a relaxed evening filled with bold flavours and a touch of old-world charm.

Democracy Bar

Breathing new life into Joburg’s nightlife scene, Democracy Bar is an experience you won’t forget in a hurry.

This interactive new hotspot – where everyone has their say – works like this: book your table, scan a code on arrival, and cast your votes online for everything from drinks specials to the music playlist, all while enjoying delicious tapas-style food.

Crofter's Kitchen
