They have breathtaking looks, luxurious interiors, crazy technical features. Yes, we are talking about the cars of the German car manufacturer Porsche. But did you know that in addition to its initial price, these are money pits when it comes to maintenance and repairs?
Member car insurance companies have measured the costs of repairs (and maintenance) of 33 different brands, the study by the Association Sécurité et Réparation Automobiles (SRA) reveals the results.
First of all, it should be noted that this analysis only takes into account specific makes and models: vehicles less than 6 years old, less than 3.5 tonnes and from manufacturers where the data found is sufficient.
We therefore exclude from the list all the major brands of luxury cars. Nevertheless, the figures are quite revealing on those present.
Based on its calculations, SRA defined that the most expensive brand was indeed Porsche. Indeed, the latter obtains the score of 217 (the highest in the catalogue) which means that its repair or maintenance cost is 2.17 times higher than the average.
But that's not all, the builder of the magnificent Cayenne is also the one with the most expensive labor and spare parts (certainly because of the technicality of its machines).
Land Rover, Mercedes and Tesla then…
In second place, we find the manufacturer Land Rover (1.37 times more expensive than the average). Cheaper than Porsche, but more than Mercedes , with a score of 127, and Tesla with 122.
As far as French manufacturers are concerned, they remain very close to the average. Renault obtains a score of 104, followed very closely by Peugeot with 101 points, Citroën posting 96.
For those who want to have a car at a lower cost for repairs and maintenance, it will be necessary to turn to the Romanian manufacturer Dacia which figures everything at the bottom of the study.
