The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a recall of certain Isuzu RT66 vehicles and Ducati motorcycles after safety defects were discovered.
According to the NCC, Isuzu Motors South Africa (Pty) Ltd is recalling 10 RT66 vehicles sold between 16 July and 8 September 2025. The vehicles may experience an intermittent airbag warning light due to a faulty electrical connection, which could prevent the airbag from deploying in a collision.
"According to Isuzu, the affected vehicles may experience an intermittent airbag warning light due to a poor electrical connection between the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) circuits and the clock spring. This defect may result in the airbag failing to deploy during a collision, posing a significant safety risk to vehicle occupants," the NCC said.
The NCC also revealed that Ducati South Africa, a division of Volkswagen South Africa (Pty) Ltd, is recalling 290 motorcycles nationally. This affects Ducati Panigale V4 models from 2018 to 2024 and Ducati V4 Streetfighter models from 2020 to 2025.
"The 290 (Two Hundred and Ninety) units impacted models were sold nationally. On the affected motorcycles, the rear wheel shaft may lose its structural integrity, and in extreme cases, a crack may form, which could lead to the rear wheel shaft’s complete failure".
The NCC also added that owners of affected vehicles and motorcycles should have them inspected and repaired at authorised delearships
"Consumers in possession of the affected vehicles and motorcycles are urged to take this recall seriously and arrange for the necessary inspection and repair at their nearest authorised dealerships. All corrective work relating to this recall will be carried out at no cost to the consumer".
