Sparkle this New Year’s Eve
Well that’s it girls, another year done and dusted! How are we celebrating? Well, other than sipping cocktails on the beach and indulging in festive feasts, we’re ending the year with a bang by rocking a hot, metallic New Year’s Eve party look. Because if you can’t go all-out sparkly on New Year’s Eve, then when can you?
SKIN:
* Choose a long-lasting foundation if you want heavy coverage and apply with a foundation brush to get an even finish. Our favourite is Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation, R370.
* If you prefer lighter coverage, opt for a BB cream and apply with your fingers. Try Stila Stay All Day SPF 30 10-in-1 Illuminating Balm, R395.00
* Apply your concealer after your foundation, as you’ll have a better idea of where you need extra coverage.
EYES:
* Fill-in your brows to give them more definition. Use a brow pencil in a shade lighter than your brow colour, or use powder and an angled brush. Our favourite powder set is Clarins Eyebrow Kit, R415 and we love ck One Color Eyebrow Pencil and Gel, R230.
* Curl your lashes to prepare them for mascara later.
* We love Avon’s True Colour The Metallics 8-in-1 Eyeshadow Palette, R169.95 for a sexy party look. Smudge the grey shade over your lids (up to the crease), then apply the silver over the top, blending to just above the crease. Finally, blend essence’s Metal Glam Eyeshadow in Golden Up, R36.95, over the whole lid, right up to the brow bone.
* Use a bullet-shaped brush to sweep the silver under your bottom lash line, and blend well.
* Apply two coats of volumising mascara like Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara, R335. The last step for your eyes is to line your top tear lines with Clarins Waterproof Eye Pencil in Plum, R205 and pop a line of Woolworths Wink Dazzling Gel Eyeliner in Hi Ho Silver, R39.95 along the top lash line.
LIPS:
* With all the glitz that’s happening around your eye area, it’s best to keep your lips simple. A sweep of nude gloss is all you’ll need (it’s also easy to reapply throughout the night)! We love Gosh Volume Lip Shine in Nude, R120.
