The Kathu police have arrested a second suspect following a deadly business robbery, where a 31-year-old shop employee was fatally attacked.
KATHU SAPS Crime Prevention officers arrested a second male suspect in connection with a murder and business robbery that took place in Kathu on Tuesday at approximately 12:45pm.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock confirmed that a 31-year-old shop employee was attacked during the robbery, suffering fatal head and body injuries.
The second suspect, a 41-year-old man, was apprehended at a residence in Siyathemba at 8.45pm, while the first suspect, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the Kathu dumping site an hour after the incident.
Both suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, praised the swift action of the SAPS officers, along with community members and other stakeholders, for capturing the two suspected assailants within hours of the brutal attack.
The investigation remains ongoing.
