Woman’s body retrieved from Hartswater canal

The Hartswater Detectives have opened an inquest docket after the body of an unknown woman was discovered and retrieved from a canal in Hartswater on Tuesday.

THE HARTSWATER Detectives have opened an inquest docket after the body of an unknown woman was discovered and retrieved from a canal in Hartswater on Tuesday.

SAPS Northern Cape spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the woman was believed to be between 35 and 45 years old, with a well-built physique and a light complexion.

“The deceased was wearing a black T-shirt with a green jersey when she was found,” Shemane added.

He requested the public to assist in identifying the deceased.

“Anyone who might have information is requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Tebogo Markus, on 082 469 6228 or 067 401 7844. Alternatively, visit the Hartswater police station, call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app. All information received will be treated confidentially,” he stated.

He further noted that an autopsy would be conducted to establish the cause of death.

“The investigation continues,” said Shemane.
