A 38-year-old man was arrested on charges of stock theft after Fraserburg police found slaughtered meat in his possession.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock on Tuesday said the suspect was arrested while members of the Fraserburg Detectives unit were conducting crime operations.
He added that members followed up on information and traced a 38-year-old man with suspected stolen stock.
“The meat of a slaughtered sheep and a butcher’s knife was confiscated by the police.”
Kock said three more suspects were apprehended on various unrelated charges during the operation.
“On October 7, the Fraserburg detectives executed a wanted suspects operation which led to the arrest of three men, aged 24, 25 and 38 years respectively on charges of assault to do grievous bodily harm and the contravention of protection orders.”
He stated that the four suspects were expected to appear in the Fraserburg magistrate’s court soon.
“The investigation continues,” said Kock.
