THE VICTORIA West SAPS arrested three suspects carrying sheep carcasses in a bag, thanks to the assistance of a community member.
SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock said a motorist gave the suspects a lift to Victoria West on May 17 at about 5pm.
“The driver noticed the suspects carrying a bag (and they were) stained with blood on their jackets hence he drove to the police station for assistance.
“One of the suspects was arrested at the police station and police confiscated the stolen sheep carcasses worth approximately R3,000.”
He added that the two other men fled on foot and one handed himself over to the police on May 20.
“The Victoria West SAPS with the assistance of De Aar Public Order Policing pursued the third suspect for about five kilometres on foot in the veld and also arrested him on Monday.”
Kock said the suspects were expected to appear in the Victoria West magistrates court soon.
He added that the investigation is ongoing.
