Two suspects are set to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court after allegedly attempting to withdraw a substantial amount of money from the Roodepan post office using a fraudulent identity document.
TWO SUSPECTS are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon after they allegedly tried to withdraw a substantial amount of money at the Roodepan post office with the use of a fraudulent identity document.
During a fraud investigation involving the Provincial Organised Crime, Crime Intelligence and K9 units on October 4, the police found several bank cards and identity document (ID) cards in the suspects’ possession.
SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said on Monday that the suspects were arrested at around 10.55am when they tried to flee the scene.
“The suspects were in the process of withdrawing a substantial amount of money from an account with a fraudulent identity card and the transaction was foiled by the SAPS,” said Kock.
He stated that the suspects, aged 40 and 48 years old, were expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of fraud and identity theft.
“The investigation continues,” Kock added.
