THIS weekend, the Northern Cape is serving up a classic combo of sunshine, dry heat, and a cool-down to close things out. Saturday is set to sizzle with high temperatures across the region, while Sunday will usher in a noticeable drop, along with a bit of a breeze. No rain in sight, so keep the umbrellas tucked away and the water bottles handy.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Expect highs in the upper 30s on Saturday, with dry, sunny skies across the region. By Sunday, cooler temperatures sweep in, dropping daytime highs into the 20s, and night-time lows dipping into the teens and even lower. Winds will keep things breezy, especially by the end of the weekend, but don’t expect any rain to break up the dry spell. So, it’s sunscreen by day, long sleeves by night, and windy conditions to keep things interesting!

KIMBERLEY

Saturday kicks off with a toasty high of 35 degrees Celsius – perfect for outdoor activities if you’re a sun-seeker. The low dips to a mild 18°C in the evening, so while you’ll roast in the day, it’ll be just warm enough for a night-time braai without the jacket. Expect dry and breezy conditions, with winds at 17km/h to occasionally toss your sunhat around.

Sunday’s flipping the script! Temperatures will drop sharply to 20°C, and you’ll want to dust off those jerseys for the evening, as it chills down to a crisp 12°C. Winds at a moderate 17km/h will offer a pleasant breeze, but sorry – no rain to wash off that heat.

UPINGTON

If Kimberley is warm, Upington is positively sizzling! Saturday brings a heatwave-worthy 38°C – stay hydrated, seek shade, and maybe avoid doing anything that requires too much physical effort. The night will cool things down to 19°C.

Sunday comes with a weather twist here, too! The daytime high drops to a much more bearable 27°C, with a breezy wind at 23km/h that’ll keep you on your toes. The day will cool down quickly, with a chilly 10°C overnight, so you’ll probably be reaching for that blanket.

WRAP-UP

So, whether you’re staying in town or adventuring out, plan for a warm and windy Northern Cape weekend. Just be sure to pack both sunscreen and a jersey – you’ll need both!

In short: Sunny, hot, and a bit windy, with cooler temps swooping in on Sunday.

Happy weekend!
