Langley pleasure resort will be closed on New Years Day due to concerns over the swimming pool that was declared unsafe.
Spokesperson for Sol Plaatje municipality Thabo Mothibi said a multidisciplinary team conducted an on-site inspection at the resort on Monday.
He added that the other two resorts – Transka and Riverton would be open on Wednesday.
“The two holiday resorts have been fully booked for accommodation. Rekaofela resort in Barkly West is also fully booked for accommodation and no daytime visitors are permitted.”
Mothibi stated that daytime visitors were welcome to visit Transka and Riverton pleasure resorts.
“Visitors are reminded that access will be denied once the resorts have reached capacity.”
He indicated that the resorts would automatically be closed to daytime visitors at 6pm.
“High police visibility is expected, and heightened security will be enforced. We wish to appeal to all visitors to desist from unruly conduct.
“We plead to the public and holidaymakers to report all acts of vandalism at our resorts to Sol Plaatje Municipality’s Security Unit – 053 830 6661 – and SAPS 10111.”
Mothibi added that due to the closure of Langley Pleasure Resort, three public swimming pools – Karen Muir with a maximum capacity of 240 persons, Galeshewe (140 persons only) and Roodepan (140 persons only) – would be open to the public on New Year’s Day.
“The entry fee at Roodepan and Galeshewe swimming pools is R22 for adults and R13 for children. At Karen Muir adults have to pay an entry fee of R22 and R17 for children.
“Alcohol, hubbly bubbly, braaing and fireworks are prohibited, and no persons under the influence of alcohol will be permitted on any of the three premises,“ Mothibi stated.
