Kathu police arrest suspect for murder, business robbery

The Kathu police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a murder and business robbery that took place on October 8.

THE KATHU police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a murder and business robbery that took place on Tuesday, October 8, at around 1.30pm.

According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, two unknown males entered a tuck shop on Seder Avenue, Kathu. The employee, who was alone in the shop, was fatally wounded during the robbery before the suspects fled with stolen goods.

The police traced and arrested one of the suspects an hour later at a dumping site in Kathu. The second suspect remains at large.

Kock said the police are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Thamsanqa Mangaliso at 073 804 4316 or use the MySAPS app. All information will be handled confidentially. The investigation is ongoing.
