The police are searching for an unknown man who raped a woman who was jogging in the vineyards near the Kakamas industrial area.
THE POLICE are searching for a suspect who raped a woman who was jogging in the vineyards near the Kakamas industrial area late in the afternoon on June 26.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain CJ Prins said on Tuesday that the woman turned around when she heard footsteps behind her.
“An unknown man asked her for money and she told him that she didn’t have money with her. The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, overpowered her and raped her. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s cellphone and walked away,” said Prins.
He added that the suspect was estimated to be between the ages of 20 and 25 years old, approximately 1.55 metres tall and of medium build.
“At the time of the crime he was wearing a black beanie, denim pants and a dark blue golf shirt.”
