WITH an improved 84.2% matric pass rate, the newly inaugurated Sol Plaatje mayor and former MEC for Education, Martha Bartlett, congratulated the Northern Cape Class of 2024.

Addressing the Northern Cape’s top performers at the Matric Awards ceremony at Taberna Dei in Kimberley on Tuesday, January 14, Bartlett praised the dedication of learners and educators that contributed to this achievement.

She added that the results were a testament to the fruitful collaboration between communities, learners and educators.

“We celebrate the collective triumph of overcoming challenges. Your achievement brings immense pride to your parents and your communities. This achievement would not be possible without the commitment of teachers. We salute each teacher. Parents, your pride is well-deserved – these children did not walk this journey alone.

“The matric Class of 2024 faced unique pressures, yet they rose above those adversities.

“Education remains the most powerful tool we have to transform our communities. As matriculants, you have a significant role to play in shaping your future. The world awaits your talents, ideas and leadership.

“Your success is a reflection of what is possible when hard work is applied to a task. This celebration is a testament to successful collaboration. The journey ahead is full of possibilities. Go forth and shine,” Bartlett concluded.
