THE DISTRICT commissioner of Frances Baard, Major-General Gabathata Makgari, recently hosted a prayer service at the Kimberley police station gymnasium.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Litabe said the event on December 12 was well attended by officers and members from various units within the district, including Public Order Policing and Kimberley, Roodepan, Galeshewe and Kagisho SAPS, as well as provincial components serving the greater Kimberley area. Representatives from the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, including traffic officers, were also present.
Major-General Makgari warmly welcomed everyone and emphasised the importance of seeking divine guidance in their daily responsibilities. She encouraged the attendees to rely on prayer, particularly during the demanding festive season when many would be working long hours.
The service was officiated by Pastor Richard Williams of the Christian Revival Church (CRC) in Kimberley. Drawing inspiration from Ecclesiastes 3, which reminds us that “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Pastor Williams urged attendees to trust in God and focus on His guidance. He offered biblical encouragement, calling on everyone to place their faith in the Lord during challenging times.
The purpose of the service was to provide spiritual motivation, preparation, and strength for police officers and other members as they navigate the potential challenges of the festive season.
Brigadier Nicholas Mtongana, the commander of Kimberley police station, expressed gratitude in his vote of thanks. The service concluded with a powerful prayer by Colonel Pieter Jansen and a benediction delivered by Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock.
