The Hawks’ Priority Crime Specialised Investigation team and Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) in the Northern Cape secured a final forfeiture order for an amount of R75,000 against an accused who was found in possession of drugs.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tebogo Thebe on Tuesday said that the accused Anayo Njubigb, 44, was arrested by the Upington K9 unit during a routine stop and search operation.

“During the search, a black bag was found containing 1,012 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R25,000.

“The matter was then referred to the Priority Crime Specialised Investigation and AFU for further investigation.”

Thebe added that the forfeiture order was granted by the Northern Cape High Court on May 17.
