A JOINT task force consisting of the SA Police Service (SAPS), the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) and Department of Home Affairs immigration officials arrested eight undocumented foreign nationals during a sweep in Kimberley as part of Operation Vala Umgodi on September 6.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Merapelo Pilane, the team, which was led by Colonel Kholakele Sontsi, conducted disruptive activities in the Frances Baard District. Acting on a tip-off, the team moved to a construction site in Long Street in Kimberley, where the suspects were located.

The individuals, aged between 21 and 44, were apprehended for violating immigration laws.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to address illegal immigration and enforce compliance with South African laws.

Further law enforcement actions are expected as authorities continue to crack down on undocumented individuals across the Province.
