THE POSTMASBURG and Douglas SAPS Detectives arrested a 36-year-old suspect on Thursday after the body of a woman was found in the veld in Postdene, Postmasburg on March 30.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the deceased was a Griekwastad resident who was believed to have been attending a funeral in Postmasburg over the Easter weekend.
“The body of the deceased was discovered by children who were playing in the veld on Saturday, March 30, at about 9am,” said Kock.
He stated that the 37-year-old woman had sustained a wound to the head.
“An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.”
Kock said that a 36-year-old suspect was arrested at a shanty in Douglas on April 3, at around 8am, in connection with the murder
“The suspect will be charged with murder and appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court soon.”
