LOCAL sporting sensation Mogatle Pabalello Rosemith, an 18-year-old pupil at Elizabeth Conradie School in Kimberley, will be representing South Africa at the Commonwealth Youth Games GAPS programme that will be held in England or France in 2026.
Para-lifting coach Daniel Melat said that Rosemith is one of two para-athletes in South Africa who will be competing in the Commonwealth Youth Games.
“During the qualifying rounds in Cape Town – where Rosemith qualified for the Commonwealth Games – the provincial team brought home 43 medals,” said Melat.
“Rosemith competes in the 55 kilogram category and is powerlifting between 55 to 60 kilograms. Preparation includes core, shoulders, back and upper body strength training. She started weightlifting in 2017 and has been winning ever since.”
Table tennis coach Shane Arthur added that Rosemith would also be taking part in the ITTF African table tennis para-championships from September 20 to 23 in Giza, Egypt.
“She was awarded six gold, one silver and five bronze medals at the South African championships that were held in Bloemfontein. She also does javelin and hand cycling.”
Rosemith, who hails from Danielskuil, said she has been interested in sport from a young age.
“I have attended Elcon since Grade R and enjoy sport,” she said.
