ANC Youth League member and youth co-ordinator in the office of the mayor at Magareng municipality, Walter Beesnaar Lucky, was scheduled to appear for a formal bail hearing in the Magareng magistrate’s court on Monday, December 19.
The accused first appeared in the Warrenton magistrates court on December 12, after he allegedly assaulted his estranged girlfriend.
Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock said the 36 year-old accused allegedly swore at a 35 year-old woman.
“He was arrested on December 12 on charges of contravention of a protection order.
“The accused remains in custody as the case has been remanded until December 19 for a formal bail application. The investigation continues,” he added.
Regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the accused was charged with contravention of a protection order.
“The charges are of a serious nature. It is a schedule 5 offence bail application.”
