A 41-YEAR-OLD foreign national was arrested by members of the Kuruman K9 and Flying Squad units on charges of possession of drugs on October 28.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said members were conducting crime-prevention patrols when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Etios, which they stopped and escorted to the police station and searched.

“The members found mandrax tablets and tik with an estimated street value of over R20,000. The vehicle was confiscated as it was believed to have been used in the commission of a crime,” said Sam.

He added that the suspect was expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court soon.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe district commissioner, Major-General Jonny Besnaar, commended warrant officers Calvin Harmse and Jan Burger for their vigilance and ensuring that the streets were free from drugs.
