IN ITS 107th year of serving the community, Child Welfare South Africa (CWSA) Kimberley, also affectionately known as Sinothando, is reaching out for support to rebuild a crucial part of its infrastructure.

Established in 1917, this Child Protection Legacy continues to play a vital role in safeguarding vulnerable children in Kimberley and its surrounding areas. However, it faces a pressing challenge as its perimeter wall has collapsed after decades of wear.

Located in Galeshewe, CWSA Kimberley provides essential child protection services to over eight communities, including Vergenoeg, Chris Hani, Greenpoint, Colville, and the Platfontein !Xun and Khwe populations. Each year, this non-profit organisation supports more than 100 families through five community-focused programmes, offering shelter, care, and protection to children in need.

Unfortunately, the ageing perimeter wall that surrounds the property now borders a recently developed informal settlement and a nearby dumping site. The wall's compromised structure leaves the centre vulnerable, posing safety risks to the children, staff, and facilities.

To address this, CWSA Kimberley is calling on local businesses, schools, religious institutions, and community members to lend a hand. Donations of building materials or volunteer labour would greatly aid in rebuilding the wall, securing a safe environment for all.

This call to action is a chance for Kimberley's community to come together and support the safety of its future generation. Your help, however small, can make a significant difference in fortifying this beloved organisation.

Those willing to contribute materials or time can contact CWSA Kimberley directly to join this community effort.
