IN A COMMENDABLE display of vigilance, members of the Brandvlei SAPS Visible Policing unit, A-Relief, successfully apprehended a suspected drug dealer and confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R140,000.
According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, the operation unfolded on Friday, July 26. Acting on credible information, officers from the Brandvlei SAPS conducted a targeted stop-and-search operation. Their focus was a 42-year-old individual suspected of being a drug dealer.
During the search, law enforcement discovered a cache of illicit substances in the suspect’s possession. The seized items included mandrax tablets and crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “tik”. The combined street value of these drugs is estimated to be R140,000.
The suspect is now in custody and is expected to face charges related to drug trafficking. Legal proceedings will take place at the Calvinia Magistrate’s Court in the coming days.
Kock praised the officers’ vigilance and urged residents to continue providing valuable information to law enforcement agencies in their efforts to curb drug-related activities and protect the well-being of the community.
