A 23-YEAR-old Northern Cape man was this week handed a 10-year prison sentence for murder.
Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said Cheredene Vlok was convicted and sentenced in the Carnarvon Regional Court on July 25.
According to Shemane, the case unfolded after the Carnarvon police received a distress call on April 1, 2023. The complaint indicated that a woman had been stabbed in the Bonteheuwel area of Carnarvon.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a woman with a stab wound to her chest. The victim was identified as 64-year-old Katrina Susanna Moos. Vlok was subsequently arrested for murder.
Detective Warrant Officer Alrick Ford led the investigation, meticulously gathering evidence and building a case against Vlok. The court proceedings culminated in a conviction, holding Vlok accountable for the loss of life.
