THE SECOND phase of Kathu Solar Park’s school support programme has been successfully completed, with over 400 young learners across 10 schools in the JTG District Municipality benefiting.

The initiative, done in collaboration with the Department of Education, has provided essential school supplies, including shoes and backpacks, to learners.

Local school principals have applauded the programme, praising it for having equipped learners across the district with the necessary resources for the current school year.

Initiated earlier this year by Kathu Solar Park, with support from stakeholders like the Sishen Iron Ore Company-Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT), the initiative has met the immediate material needs of learners in support of education in the region.

The selection of the schools was conducted in partnership with the regional Department of Education and was based on the necessity to identify and assist 40 of each school’s learners in most need of assistance.

The principal of Baithaopi Primary School, Senatla Bodike, shared the impressive impact of the initiative.

“We are grateful that these efforts addressed the immediate needs like providing school supplies, while also aligning with broader goals of reducing educational inequality and promoting socio-economic mobility,” said Bodike.
