THREE women were arrested by the Kimberley SAPS Crime Prevention unit after they were found in possession of suspected stolen goods valued at R20,000, allegedly stolen from stores in a local mall.

Sergeant Phumla Mpolokeng was conducting patrols on February 23 when she was alerted by a security guard employed at the mall regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Kimberley SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said the police stopped and searched the vehicle.

“They recovered suspected stolen goods, including clothing, toiletries and appliances, with an estimated value of R20,000. It is believed that the goods were stolen from stores in the mall,” said Gopane.

She added that three women, aged 25, 40 and 43, were arrested.

“One of the suspects is a Lesotho national. A silver grey Volkswagen vehicle, allegedly used in the commission of a crime, was seized.”

Gopane said the suspects would appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.

The police urged the public to report and reject stolen goods.
